The questions we are asked on the doorstep
Practical answers on preparation, quoting, access and parts. If yours is not here, put it in the booking notes and we will answer it in writing.
What should I have done before you arrive?
Isolate the supply if water is moving, clear the cupboard or floor space around the fault, and shut pets away from the work area. If you know where the stopcock and meter are, say so when you book — it saves the first ten minutes of every visit.
How is a visit quoted?
We quote the scope, not the hour, and you approve it before work starts. Diagnosis and make-safe are priced separately from the repair, so you can take the fix away and think about it without being left with an open pipe.
Will you need to lift floors or cut into walls?
Sometimes, for hidden leaks. We trace from the meter, the moisture pattern and the pipe route first to keep the opening as small as possible, and we never cut or lift without showing you where and getting a yes.
Can you fit bathroom or kitchen items I have already bought?
Yes, if the waste and supply positions can take them. Send us the model names when you book and we will flag anything that needs a different trap, a pressure change or a repositioned waste before the fitting day.
How long does leak tracing usually take?
Straightforward joint or seal failures are normally found and confirmed within the first visit. Slab and screed leaks can need a second appointment once the property has dried, and we will say which you are likely facing before you commit.
What happens if the part is not on the van?
We carry common valves, traps, seals and fittings. For anything obsolete or made to size we make the system safe and usable where we can, order the part and return — you are not charged twice for the same diagnosis.
Do I need to be there for the whole visit?
Only for the walk-through at the start and the sign-off at the end. For longer work we agree access in advance and send the written record afterwards, which suits landlords and managing agents working off site.
